Elaine Smith

With a wealth of experience as a mental health clinician for nearly 15 years, Elaine Smith has been the Assistant Clinical Director, Clinical Supervisor, and Mental Health Consultant for Non-profits. She draws her experience from a variety of settings, including a psychiatric hospital, a substance abuse treatment facility, and an outpatient mental health center.  Through her work, she has remained committed to helping people overcome trauma, anxiety, depression, and other stressors that impact our personal and professional life.

Her approach remains in assisting people in defining their goals in treatment. Rather than adopting one methodology for all individuals and issues, I draw from a variety of methods to create a tailored approach or everyone. As a therapist, Elaine is a warm, open, encouraging, and direct. She combines experience, education, creativity, and a sense of humor with a down-to-earth, realistic approach to therapy.

Even as a Mental Health Consultation for business, her approach remains the same. She is not a lecturer. She is engaging the audience. Through proper engagement, people can retain information better. Most importantly, no one prefers inactive presentations.

Ms. Smith also devises strategies and plans for expansion of the Behavioral Health Services program, as well as oversees budgeting, resourcing, and outreach.

Ms. Smith’s goal is to break through the barriers of mental health stigma in the African American community through trauma-informed interventions.
